If You’re In an Accident

When you’re in an accident, remember to make sure that you and others involved in the crash are okay. Call for help if necessary. It is important that you are able to describe as much of the accident as possible.

If your car can’t be driven from the scene:

Call a tow truck to remove your car to a place that’s safe and secure. Make a police report if total property damage is sighted to be approximately over $1000. Lastly, call Dial-A-Claim and report your crash.

If it’s a hit and run:

You are responsible for finding witnesses and identifying the vehicle responsible. If you find anyone who has witnessed the crash, get their names, addresses, and phone numbers. Secondly, file a police report if required and call Dial-A-Claim to report your claim. If the hit and run driver cannot be identified, you will be provided with up to $200,000 minus a deductible for property damages.

If your car is a total loss:

Under ICBC collision insurance, or if another driver is at fault, ICBC will offer a cash settlement for your vehicle. If you purchase a replacement cost policy (only available if your vehicle is within 3 years of the model year and you’re a Roadstar driver) your vehicle could be replaced with a current year vehicle.

Dial-A-Claim: 1-800-910-4222 (1-800-910-ICBC) This is for the Terrace/Kitimat region.
