Registering your Vehicle in B.C.

If you own a vehicle, and you are bringing it to B.C. from another province, in order to register the vehicle, the following is required:

  • The vehicle registration document
  • A “passed” Vehicle Inspection Report from a Designated Inspection Facility in BC; check the Commercial Vehicle Safety and Enforcement website
  • If the vehicle is from Nova Scotia, the Certificate of Title.

It will be necessary to have a signed and dated bill of sale if your vehicle is not registered in your name.

Although, having a vehicle registration document (or the Certificate of Title, if the vehicle is from Nova Scotia) will be admissible rather than a bill of sale. This document must be signed by the registered owner of the vehicle and it must name you as the new owner.
